SONATINA Written in 1994 and dedicated to his daughter Susana, was conceived on the basis of his teaching experience in order to help the technical progress of students. It is made up of four movements; the composer starts the work with a clear allusion to the sonata for violin written by Prokofiev in 1947. SONATINA The Sonatina by Jordi Cervello is a wonderful addition to the solo violin repertory. Its four movements form a truly unified and inspired light minute work. Cervello has imbued his Sonatina with some unique techniques which are both a challenge to the performer and completely violinistic. The Sonatina has been received enthusiastically by audiences.

Fue escrita en el 1994 y esta dedicada a mi hija Susanna. Considero la Sonatina para violin solo como una de mis mejores obras. Mi experiencia como profesor de violin me impulso a crear una partitura cuya finalidad radicase especialmente en ayudar al progreso tecnico de los jovenes instrumentistas. Crear una obra en la que las dificultades tecnicas tanto por lo que se refiere a la mano izquierda como a la del arco apareciesen de la manera mas natural. Un dibujo melodico de diez notas, de clara alusion a la Sonata para violin solo escrita por Prokofiev en el 1947, es el motor de esta partitura estructurada en cuatro movimientos. El primero, de caracter humoristico, dentro de la variedad de golpes de arco; el segundo, un lento nostalgico en dobles cuerdas; el tercero, un "Scherzo" de caracter misterioso con rapidas figuraciones en tresillo. El cuarto tiempo presenta un mayor caracter virtuosistico. Grabacion: Ilia Ioff (violin), Columna Musica (1CM0156). --Jordi Cervello.
